Maria @ Dentabus
Working with limited resources like so many small business owners, Maria DeLaRosa launched her dental prosthetics business, Dentabus, from her home’s basement.
After receiving pro bono legal services for a new workspace and securing her MBE certification with the support of ALX, she has since outgrown her basement— now operating from a larger facility with upgraded equipment and a growing team.

Success Story
Gateway to Pre-K Agenda
ALX successfully championed the Gateway to Pre-K Agenda, which was included in Governor Healey’s 2024 & 2025 budgets. This initiative expands access to early childhood education, setting a pathway for long-term educational improvements for Latino children in underserved communities.
Our micro businesses are the lifeblood of downtown economies in gateway cities and rural areas. For 10 years we have been fighting for this definition, and for it to be codified into Massachusetts law will make it easier for intentional and culturally-appropriate, targeted assistance to be provided to micro businesses with ten employees or fewer. These vital legislative efforts will impact our local economies, particularly our growing diverse, immigrant and women-owned businesses.

ALX100 honored 100 influential Latino leaders selected from over 600 nominations across 20+ sectors. Throughout the six-month ALX100 campaign, we convened and celebrated Latino leaders through events, a traveling exhibition, media partnerships, and a limited-edition keepsake book amplifying Latino leadership stories statewide.
